Kené Motion — Sports Jersey

At first, you see a network. Then paths begin to appear inside it: one splits, another returns, a third disappears beneath a sleeve and continues across the back. Yet kené, the visual language of the Shipibo-Konibo people of the Peruvian Amazon, is more than geometric decoration. It gives visible form to something that cannot ordinarily be seen.

The art of kené is traditionally learned from childhood, particularly among women. New designs may arrive in dreams, through work with the plant piripiri or in visions associated with ayahuasca. In healing practice, image meets medicine song: lines and melodies lead, return and change direction, helping intense perception find a form. This does not make every pattern a literal musical score or part of one secret dictionary. Each design also carries the individual inspiration of its maker.

Why place it on a sports jersey? Because kené was never made only for motionless viewing on a wall. It appears on textiles, ceramics and bodies. Here it returns to a body in motion: breath, running and dance send its paths across the shoulders and back. Kené Motion is a contemporary authorial interpretation, not a traditional Shipibo-Konibo artwork. It carries forward the idea of a living image that fully reveals itself only through movement.

Measurements are taken manually; allow a 1–3 cm difference.

Care

Machine wash cold with similar colours. Do not bleach or dry-clean. Line dry. If ironing is needed, use a maximum sole-plate temperature of 110 °C without steam.

Minor differences in colour and exact print placement may occur between the screen mockup and the finished product.
